ROADTRIPPIN'

Der Roadtrip in Kroatien im letzten Jahr hat uns ziemlich gut gefallen, da wir recht viel des Landes erkundigen konnten. Deshalb haben wir uns dieses Jahr erneut für einen Roadtrip entschieden, jedoch eine Mini Version mit nicht so weiten Strecken, aber trotzdem fünf Stops.

The roadtrip in Croatia last year was pretty much fun for us because we were able to explore a lot of the country. That's why we decided this year again to go for a roadtrip, but a mini version with not so long distances, but still five stops.

Das war auch nötig, denn die Algarve hat ziemlich viel zu bieten und zwei Wochen auch nicht genug, um alles zu entdecken.

That was also necessary, because the Algarve has quite a lot to offer and two weeks is not enough to discover everything.

1ST STOP - CARVOEIRO

Stay:

Unsere Unterkunft kann ich euch leider nicht wirklich empfehlen, aber wir waren auch einfach zu spät dran und ich konnte nichts bezahlbares mehr finden. Aber in Carvoeiro findet man trotzdem zahlreiche schöne Orte - bloß eben ein bisschen früher.


Unfortunately I can't really recommend our accommodation to you, but we were just too late and I couldn't find anything affordable anymore. But in Carvoeiro you can still find a lot of nice places - just a little earlier.

Do:

Auf alle Fälle die Strände und Felsformationen erkunden. Wir genossen vor allem den Praia dos Arrifes, Praia da Marina und den Praia de Bengali.

Bei schlechtem Wetter kann ich das Algarve Shopping Centre empfehlen, ein sehr süßer Ort.

In any case, explore the beaches and rock formations. We enjoyed above all the Praia dos Arrifes, Praia da Marina and the Praia de Bengali. In case of bad weather I can recommend the Algarve Shopping Centre, a very sweet place.

Ein Muss ist die Bengali Höhle - das ist natürlich kein Geheimnis. Ich rate euch um 9 Uhr dort zu sein und an dem Verleih ein Paddleboard zu leihen.

A must is the Bengali cave - that is of course no secret. I advise you to be there at 9 am and rent a paddleboard.

Eat:

Ich liebe es ja in ausländischen Supermärkten neue Leckereien zu finden. Sucht euch eine Bäckerei und deckt euch ein, dazu Butter und vielleicht Salami...

Das beste Essen hatte ich auf jeden Fall direkt schon am zweiten Tag des Urlaubs. So große und leckere Garnelen habe ich vorher noch nie gegessen. Also stattet Folhas do Loro in Carvoeiro einen Besuch ab.

I love finding new treats in foreign supermarkets. Find a bakery and stock up, serve butter and maybe salami...


In any case, I had the best food directly on the second day of my holiday. I've never eaten prawns this big and tasty before. So visit Folhas do Loro in Carvoeiro.

2ND STOP - LAGOS

Stay:

Leider habe ich auch hier keinen genauen Vorschlag für euch. Wir waren nicht so happy mit unserer Unterkunft. Für Party und Action sucht euch etwas in der Altstadt. Wenn ihr es lieber ruhiger angehen wollt außerhalb.

Unfortunately I don't have an exact proposal for you here either. We were not so happy with our accommodation. For party and action look for something in the old town. If you'd rather take it more quietly look outside.

Do:

Was denn auch sonst: Beachin'. Mein Lieblingsstrand hier war der Praia dos tres Irmaos. Praia do Camilo ist aber auch sehr empfehlenswert.

What else? Beachin'. My favourite beach here was the praia dos tres Irmaos. Praia do Camilo is also very recommendable.

Die Altstadt von Lagos mit ihren vielen schönen Fließen und Straßenkünstlern. Super schön fand ich auch den Student Beach mit der alten Romanischen Brücke.

Eat:

Lagos hat eine super süße Altstadt mit unzähligen restaurants und Cafés. Auf alle Fälle solltet ihr einmal Chicken Piri Piri in Portugal probiert haben, das gibt es an jeder Ecke.

Als Indian Food Lover kommt man zudem am Maharaja Tasty Indian nicht vorbei. Dafür hatte selbst ich eine Empfehlung bekommen, jedoch findet ihr es recht einfach, wenn ihr der Straße folgt.

Eines der wenigen Male, dass wir wirklich frühstücken waren. Dabei haben wir uns auf Google verlassen und wurden nicht enttäuscht. Leckeres und super günstiges English Breakfast gibt es im Café Odeon.

Lagos has a super sweet old town with countless restaurants and cafés. In any case you should have tried Chicken Piri Piri in Portugal, you can find it at every corner.

As an Indian Food Lover you can't miss the Maharaja Tasty Indian. I myself got a recommendation for it, but you will find it quite easy if you follow the street.

One of the few times that we really had breakfast. We relied on Google and were not disappointed. Delicious and super cheap English Breakfast is available at Café Odeon.

3RD STOP - SAGRES

Stay:

Endlich kann ich euch die erste Unterkunft empfehlen. Das Good Feeling Hostel war in echt sehr schöner Ort. Wir hatten einen kleinen Holzbungalow im Garten mit Blick auf den Pool und es gab immer super lecker Frühstück.

Finally I can recommend you the first accommodation. The Good Feeling Hostel was in a really nice place. We had a small wooden bungalow in the garden overlooking the pool and there was always super delicious breakfast.

Do:

Mein Lieblingsstrand hier war der Praia do Beliche. Der Sand war der weichste, den ich seit langem zwischen meinen Zehen gespürt habe und außerdem gibt es köstlich gegrillte Sardinhas.

My favourite beach here was the Praia do Beliche. The sand was the softest I've felt between my toes for a long time and there are also delicious grilled sardinhas.

Den Leuchtturm am westlichsten Punkt Europas. Cabo do Sao Vicente ist schon ein beeindruckender Ort, wenn man überlegt, dass vor Amerika nichts mehr kommt als Wasser.

The lighthouse at the westernmost point of Europe. Cabo do Sao Vicente is a very impressive place, if you consider that there is nothing more before America than water.

Eat:

Wirklich wirklich leckere Burger haben im Three Little Birds gegessen. Aber auch die Atmosphäre dort ist einfach super schön. Mein Geheimtipp Die Nachos mit Pulled Chicken als Vorspeise. Wir haben wirklich beide davon geschwärmt.

Really really tasty burgers we ate at Little Birds Three. But also the atmosphere there is really nice. My insider tip The Nachos with Pulled Chicken as starter. We both really loved it.

4TH STOP - ALEZUR

Stay:

Das Daguasoul Hostel hat uns super gut gefallen. Die Stimmung war echt klasse und von der gemütlichen Dachterrasse muss ich gar nicht erst anfangen. Celso ist ein ganz netter Host und kümmert sich um alles.

We really liked the Daguasoul Hostel. The atmosphere was really great and from the cosy roof terrace I don't have to start at all. Celso is a very nice host and takes care of everything.

Do:

In Aljezur müsst ihr auf jeden Fall surfen gehen. Das ist wohl einer DER Surfspots in Portugal. Wir haben es natürlich auch ausprobiert, aber passt unbedingt auf für welchen Strand ihr euch entscheidet.

In Aljezur you have to go surfing in any case. This is probably one of THE surf spots in Portugal. Of course we tried it, but be sure to check which beach you choose.

Nichts besonderes außer die wunderschönen Strände.

Eat:

Pizza Bianca - Holt euch ein paar Meter weiter eine Pizza und genießt diese mit einem Glas Wein auf der gemütlichen Dachterrasse und verbringt einen lustigen Abend mit den anderen Gästen des Hostels.

Pizza Bianca - Get a pizza a few meters away and enjoy it with a glass of wine on the cosy roof terrace and spend a fun evening with the other guests of the hostel.

Gulli - Das Bistro liegt ein Stück außerhalb von Aljezur, bietet aber eine sehr ansprechende Karte mit sehr leckeren Gerichten.

Gulli - The bistro is located a bit outside of Aljezur, but offers a very appealing menu with very tasty dishes.

5TH STOP

Coming next post

Vor der Reise habe ich natürlich auch viel recherchiert, vor allem auch, welche die schönsten Strände sind. Für mich lässt sich das schwer beurteilen, denn jeder Strand ist auf eine andere Weise sehr schön. 

Of course I did a lot of research before the trip, especially to find out which are the most beautiful beaches. For me it's hard to judge, because every beach is very beautiful in a different way.
